towards a more sustainable, spiritual and simple life.
1. We need more luxury, less stuff .
Real luxury is understanding quality, and taking your time to enjoy it ... Our meditation cushions are made with 'Royal Velvet', a beautiful hand-woven silk fabric from Uzbekistan. Touch them, and you'll understand what quality means, use them, and you'll feel your biggest luxury, which is ... time.
2. We need more values, less labels.
You'll find no label on this cushion. On a path for change labels are no longer key, values are. What matters are the people who make a product, what they stand for, the values that drive them. These values are defining the energy the product gets. It's also why our cushions are exclusive to our own site.
3. We need more patience, less rush.
If we want change we should give each other more time ... 'I order now, I want it tomorrow', this consumption habit is too devastating for people and the planet. It should end. So we only start making your cushion after your order, and you'll receive it six to eight weeks later. Your patience improves our lives, thank you.
4. We need more trust, less obligations.
Where Did the “Us” in Trust Go ...? We bring it back. If you want to you can order without payment, you may even choose how much you pay, We trust you will order according to your financial means and pay us when the cushion is ready. For umu trust is the new currency.
5. We need more 'letting go', less control.
We are just a tiny particle in the universe, A universe which is not only powerful, but also guiding. It deserves our trust. To try this, we give you the option to let the universe choose your cushion. If you do so, we'll use our choice-wheel and let a cushion choose you ...
6. We need more wabi-sabi, less perfection.
Finding beauty in imperfections is such a joy ... Our cushions are fully handmade, so just like our hands, they are not perfect and no two are the same. Hands receive, transmit and even project energy, they transform consciousness into form.
7. We need more colour, less dullness.
Colour is light reflected back to us ... light is actually a medicine for us. Colours impact our bodies and environment, they have a huge effect on our lives. So let's end the dullness, let's colour up our lives!
8. We need more stillness, less noise.
Let's put our bumbums more on cushions, less on chairs. Let's get out of the daily noise and enjoy stillness, let's meditate. Not to become enlightened, no, just to enjoy this wonderful mystic tool, that helps us day by day, to find inner peace and our true 'purpose of service'. The reason we are born. Once we know this, everything around us changes. It suddenly becomes more easy, even normal to move towards a sustainable, spiritual and simple life ... together.
This dense and warm fabric was traditionally used for occasional apparel and is still being referred to as "Royal Silk Velvet". In Uzbekistan they still use this age-old weaving and dyeing technique that provides textiles with beautiful motifs. The special thing about this technique is that dyeing does not take place when the fabric is completely woven, but takes place before the weaving process. Even before the weaving process starts, the yarns are dyed by hand using local natural dyes. Yarns are cut to length and tied together into strands. Precisely measured parts of these strands are tied off and then covered with a liquid-repellent material that does not allow the paint or stain to penetrate. The strands then go into the dye bath, after which they are well dried. After drying, the liquid-repellent material is removed, the strands are tied off in new places and the process starts again, this time with a different color. If this has been repeated a number of times, and the colors have been applied in the right places with great accuracy, the intended design will emerge during weaving. The whole process is complex, requires specific skills and is very time-consuming: making the fabric requires several weeks. For this we work directly with small cooperatives from Uzbekistan. The cushions each have an inner cushion that is stuffed in Belgium with buckwheat husks, a fantastic natural product that provides optimal seating comfort. Some dried lavender is added which gently diffuses a subtle, soothing fragrance when leaned upon. This is not just like a meditation cushion, it's a cushion for life ...
This cushion needs love and use ... You can handwash the outside cushion on low temperature (40°) or dry clean . Slight imperfections may appear due to the fabrics used. Small differences in size may occur due to its hand crafted process.
